We got our usual round booth in the corner by the window. I ordered a coke float and Eva asked for a coffee. A few minutes later, the door flew open and in walked Alex. I stumbled to my feet and ran up to him. He threw his arms around me and I gripped him tight. He pulled away, smiled, kissed my forehead and pulled me back into a hug. We walked back to the table and sat down. Eva had her mouth wide open, soon enough, she would be drooling. She pulled me closer. 'Wow. He IS cute.' she said, not taking her eyes off him. I laughed because I was pretty sure Alex heard as he was blushing. 'Well, Eva.. this is Alex. Alex this is Eva.' I said. They shook hands over the table. We all talked for a while. Alex had his arm around me, I had my head on his shoulder. I didn't realize until now, just how much I missed him. I heard a voice call my name. I quickly spun around to see who it was. I smiled when I saw his face. I signalled for him to sit with us. As he was walking over, Alex whispered in my ear. 'Who's that? I recognize him.' 'Uh.. just a friend.' I whispered back. Joe sat down beside Eva and smiled at me. Alex squeezed my shoulder and turned to look behind us so when he whispered in my ear, no-one would notice. 'Is there something, you're not telling me.' he whispered. 'Like what?' I said so quiet he could barely hear. 'A boyfriend?' he said. I turned his face to mine. 'What?' I mouthed. He could tell by the look on my face that I was being serious. When we turned back to face them, they were looking at us strangley. 'Uh, Alex.. this is Joe.' I said. 'Hi.' Alex said confidently. 'Uh.. hey.' Joe said, seeming a little nervous. There was silence for a while. 'Uh.. Indie. Can talk to you in private?' Joe said. 'Um. Okay.' I got up and began to walk outside, Joe following. 'Why didn't you tell me you had a boyfriend?' he said, throwing his hands in the air. 'Joe.' I said with a smile, 'Alex, is my brother.' His eyes grew wide and he ran his hands through his hair. 'Thank God!' he said. I smiled. He reached for my hand. I let him. 'Indie, I don't know if you know this, but, I really like you.' he said. I walked closer to him, my hand still in his. 'Really?' I whispered. He nodded slightly. I wrapped my arms around him. I felt like crying. 'So what does this mean?' he asked, still in the hug. I stepped away. I took a deep breath. This was going to be hard. 'Nothing.' I lied. I ran back into the diner and took my place beside Alex. I could feel the tears burning the corner of my eyes. I saw Eva look at me with concern. I just shook my head and forced out a smile. Joe trailed in a minute later and slumped himself on the seat opposite me. He looked at me and it broke my heart. I couldn't do this anymore. I stood up and held out my hand to Joe. He looked at it and then looked away. 'Joe.. just take it!' I said with urgency. He took in a breath and then stood up and took my hand. I pulled him outisde again. I let go of his hand. 'I'm sorry.' I whispered and burst into tears. I held my hand up to my face and covered my eyes. I suddenly threw them to my sides. 'I hate myself. Why am I so mean?' I shouted at no-one. I looked at Joe. He was biting his nails; I don't think he knew what to do. I calmed myself and wiped away the tears. I slowly looked up. Joe was a lot closer now. Then my emotions took over me. _____ Ooh. What's going to happen? I don't really like this one.
