Some Jazzmans think that stratocaster style guitars are useless when you need to get that warm and woody jazz tone, I don't think so, I uploaded this video to show how a Fender Stratocaster can sings... Only the Neck Single Coil pickup can satisfy your requirements, Tone control is rolled down to 5, Enough to cut the typical bright of this type of pickups, seems too easy but you need to practice how to control the pick attack, if you play too strong or too smooth you won't get that precious jazz tone, focus on picking near the last fret, that's what i've done in the video, I was playing with a Fender Stratocaster Highway One (Fender bullet 0.09 strings) through a Roland Jazz Chorus 120 Amp, don't put flat strings on a Stratocaster, they're useless in these type of guitars, I don't recommend it.
