Christmas in Orissa has been largely sombre following the recent attacks against Christians in Kandhamal. But for the children who were orphaned in the violence there is something to look forward to. Around 150 such girls are making a new beginning as they now have a new home, down south in Coimbatore. "All support and help should be given to girls. They are the ones who are going to lead the country," said one of the girls. "We have schools and colleges meant just for orphan girls. From LKG to Ph D they can pursue whatever they want," said Michael Job, a philanthropist. Most of these victims are still traumatised. According to reports an estimated 40,000 Christians in Kandhamal still live in fear; in forests and relief camps, many of them in Orissa and Andhra Pradesh. These children hope that this Christmas would bring them peace that would last long.

Dear Friends and Partners, I greet you in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. Last month while in India the Lord opened the door for me, to travel to Orissa, India and talk to the persecuted church there. I was told that I was the first person to come as a journalist to talk to them. They laid hands on me and commissioned me to go and tell others of their situation and receive help for them. There is no way any human agency could bring relief and solace to the 70 plus Christian families who lost their spouses, parents and children. Many are still missing. They have been abducted, killed and their bodies have been either thrown in the river or buried secretly in the depths of the jungle. Most of them were burned alive, speared, shot and hacked to death. Hundreds of churches were either fully or partially destroyed. The children were affected the most and will forever have multiple scars in their memories. Most of them have seen the rapes, burnings and killings of their parents or siblings right in front of their eyes. Imagine the toll it will take to restore the loss of the 18,000 plus families, most of whose houses were demolished and burnt to the ground. The children and youth are the future of the church. Therefore, it is a priority to see to their care and well being. A plan of action must be taken as soon as possible because some of the impressionable youth are being lured by the Maoists to join their insurgent, revolutionary, anti-social cause. Maoism promises a safe haven to these youth from the present persecution, but for them it would be like moving from the frying pan to the oven itself. Equally important is finding the means to creatively initiate a way to bring some of the youth outside the effected zone and further educate them in the Christian perspective. They would be specially trained in Bible colleges and school campuses. A two week program would be ideal. At the end of that time they would then return to their villages. In this way, those who are currently in relief camps, some of whom are responsible leaders, would impact and influence the people of their villages. A longer term plan would involve a year long program for pastors, youth and women at various locations and would need to be carefully planned, budgeted and organized. Currently we have 110 pastors in two different IPCC locations. We are counseling them and restoring them back to their churches and lives. If you want direct connection with these people I have pictures, and video footage. I can be contacted and this information can be passed unto you. This information is extremely confidential as the BJP, VHP and RSS leaders, have targeted and persecuted Christians there. We need the body of Christ to partner together to help these people in their greatest hour of need. For more information on how you can help, please contact Pastor Jaipaul Papabathini, President of Rescuing Lives, Inc. who has direct contact with these people. Any contributions or offering can be sent to Rescuing Lives which will go directly to the Orissa families. Blessings upon blessings, Rev. A. Jaipaul Papabathin

On August 23, 2008, when the world was celebrating Janmasthami (birth of Krishna), an 82 year old hindu priest named Swami Laxmananda Saraswati was brutally murdered in his ashram. After 8 failed attempts, the faceless cowards killed Swamiji on the 9th attempt. This is a documentary about the life and work of Swami Laxmananda Saraswati; primarily in Kandhamal in Orissa, India. It shows us the vast magnitude of social work done by this noble saint. Down with the pseudo-secular media like cnn-ibn who could always cover the riots in Orissa but did not highlight the cold-blooded murder of an old saint. No / very little footage was shown of the grieving people of Orissa after the murder of Swamiji. However, some footage/clippings from the documentary were selectively shown under the title of "Hindutva dosage to young childern, Saffron terror" by cnn-ibn. These sick bast**** from the media have decided to demonize the ancient and age-old tradition of "Gurukul". Blatant appeasement of minorities and a gradual but mass murder of hindus is the policy of our government. The government, commies and media are in a sinister conspiracy to stamp out hinduism from the face of India. The sooner we understand this, the better it is for our survival. Wake up my dear brothers and sisters. ** I would be glad if anyone could upload the video/speech by Acharya Dharmendra. I strongly believe he is today's Chanakya. **

For the name sake of Jesus Christ people in orissa are persecuted. Behind the clashes are long-simmering tensions between equally impoverished groups: the Kandha tribe, who are 80% of the population, and the Pana. Both are original inhabitants of the land. The Hindu tradition of 'untouchability', where Dalits, so-called 'lower caste' people, are subject to social and economic discrimination is outlawed in the Indian constitution. The prejudices remain and 'conversion' out of 'untouchability' has been a push factor for millions of such people to escape from their circumstances through joining other religions. Islam, Buddhism, and Christianity have all been destinations for such people. The Panas have converted to Christianity in large numbers and prospered financially [2].Over the past several decades, most of the Panas have become Dalit Christians. [3] Hindu nationalist groups have blamed the violence on the issue of religious conversion. Conversions have been legislated by the provisions of the Freedom of Religion Acts, replicated in some of the states in India. Orissa was the first state of independent India to enact legislation on religious conversions. The Orissa Freedom of Religion Act, 1967, stipulates that no person shall convert or attempt to convert, either directly or otherwise, any person from one religious faith to another by the use of force or by inducement or by any fraudulent means.[4][5] Hindus have alleged that the increase in the number of Christians in Orissa has been a result of exploitation of illiteracy and impoverishment by the missionaries.[6][7] The Census of India shows that Christian population in Kandhamal grew from around 43 thousands in 1981 to 117950 in 2001[8]. Conversion from Hinduism is frowned upon by right-wing parties such as the VHP. These undercurrents have objectives to undermine attempts of religious metamorphosis by any methods.

Catholic bishops from the persecution ravaged state of Orissa warned this week that Hindu extremists have a master plan to wipe out Christianity in the remote eastern Indian state. In a letter to the states chief minister, Naveen Patnaik, the Indian bishops conveyed their concerns about the mass exodus of Christians from Kandhamal District and addressed the considerable reduction of refugees in relief camps, according to Catholic News Agency. The bishops denied that the Christian refugees were leaving the camps to safely return to their homes. Most, they reported, are moving to relief camps in other areas such as in Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, Jhanla, Berhampur, or have moved into rented houses, homes of relatives, friends or acquaintances. It is estimated that 10,000 to 15,000 Christians of Kandhamal district are living outside the district, the bishops wrote in the letter to the minister. And while displaced Indian Christians want to return to their villages, they still fear being attacked on their way back or in the village themselves, the bishops added. Another factor hindering the peoples return are reports of forced conversions. The bishops noted that details of forced conversions are taking place where Christians are pressured to choose to accept Hindu Samskaras under oath and under pain of divine punishment. They are also forced to convert to Hinduism or forfeit the harvesting of their field. One man was even denied burial in his village because he was not a Hindu, the letter highlighted. Another issue troubling the bishops is the fact that most of those who brutally attacked the Christians have not been brought to justice. The state government have not arrested or brought the criminals to court, the bishops complained. Also, the government has not fulfilled their promises to allot land and money to the now homeless Christians. Some 50,000 Christians have been displaced during the more than two months-long anti-Christian violence in Orissa. About 30,000 of the people are said to be living in refugee camps where the living condition is poor. Christians and human rights activists in India and abroad have condemned the government for turning a blind eye to the violence that has gone on unabated since August and has even spread to several other Indian states. Indian bishops in the letter contested allegations that the attacks are an ethnic conflict. Hindu Fundamentalist groups have been trying to name the communal violence as an Ethnic Conflict between the Tribals and the Pano Christians. A cursory look at facts reveals that this conflict is a calculated and pre-planned master plan to wipe out Christianity from Kandhamal district, Orissa, in order to realize the hidden agenda of Sangh Parivar of establishing a Hindu Nation, they argued. The bishop did, however, applaud the Orissa governments decision to establish a Fast Track Court at Kandhamal to accelerate the trials of cases involving attacks against Christians.
