The Wexford County Sheriff's Office will be teaching people about snowmobiling safely on January 24, as they hold a safety class for those who plan to use the vehicles. The class will begin at 9am and run until 3pm on the 24th; anyone between the ages of 12 and 17 who would like to operate a snowmobile is required to take the class. When winter weather hits, schools often close... and that can leave parents that need to head in to work in a dilemma. The Grand Traverse Bay YMCA might have a solution, though... the group offers a "school's out" program when schools are closed. Any time there's a half day or full day off of school, the YMCA offers numerous games, crafts, projects and sports to students from 6 to 15 years of age. The program begins at 6:45am when schools are closed for the day or at noon when they're closed for a half day; it ends at 6pm.
