Hello stoned slackers waiting for the end of days and house planet aficionados. First off I would like to point out the most positive factor about this band. They in no way sound like a hardcore band. Most hardcore act like to think they are death metal, but they are not. Nailed shut on the other hand is a true to life death metal act. There are no pig noises or lame ass screeches. No dissonant min2 bends that one would hear in what some would consider grind and is synonymous with hardcore seen kids. They have fast drums, growing vocals and metal guitar. Nailed shut. This band is clearly death metal if one were to gauge them solely on myspace art work. They defiantly have some grind elements. One of the most notable being is the lack of a bass player. Landing them some were in the early days of grind before what it has evolved into today. They may have a bass player on the recording, but I dont hear it. Most notably is the blinding fast kick drum. Maybe even competition fast. There are the standard low cookie monster vocals that are heard in death metal. Personally I like to hear them competing with the bass player. That could be were the vocals are falling short with nothing to harmonize with. Keep in mind if it is not hammer smash face low it is not low enough for me. The guitar is metal. Nothing more. Most of the riffs are the typical fast hammer on pull offs pedal toned against a bass note. Interestingly enough one of the guitarist is a women. If I hear correctly she is slinging notes evenly with the other guitarist. They have good looking guitars and tone to boot. The 7 strings they use fill in the low end that is missing with an absents of a bass player. Over all they are a good straight forward death metal act. The kick is fast and the vocals are growling. There is nothing not to like from them. Thats my only problem with the group. I like to hear something unexpected. The familiar is good too even if it is do it your self brain surgery with rusty kitchen ware.
