In early August, 2006, the Russian nuclear icebreaker Yamal plows through pack ice to the North Pole. On the way to the pole and the way back, we see polar bears stepping gingerly on the thinning ice that surrounds the pole, including a mother bear who goes face first through the ice. Dr. P.J. Capelotti films the expedition from the bridge wing of Yamal and, at the pole itself, from a helicopter hovering over the ship. Editor: Jeremy Capelotti.

Did anyone notice a chart? Was there a chart shown in this video? Well, I MEANT to show you a chart. I guess I goofed. I meant to show you a chart of the Average Global Temperature. This chart, had you seen it, would have indicated that the Earth is presently gripped in a friggin ice age. On the far right side of the chart, you would have seen the time period labeled "Today." The portion labeled "Today," boys and girls, is a period comprising hundreds of thousands of years. During the PRESENT DAY, the average temperature of Planet Earth has fluctuated less than two degrees Centigrade. During this "Present Day," glacial ice -- POLAR ICE -- has spread and retreated AT LEAST TEN TIMES. Somebody please tell Al Gore. By the way, this is NOT NEW information. Science has known all of this for many decades. In fact, years ago, before I heard of "man-made global whining," I knew about the Ice Age and I bet you knew about it too. You may have learned about it in your first Science class in grade school. I read it in a book entitled "The Weather."
