WATCH HIS FULL LIVE PERFORMANCE "I LOVE COLLEGE" - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=djj0hAVzkZ0 Asher Roth is a 23-year-old American rapper from Morrisville, Pennsylvania currently signed to a joint venture between Scooter Braun's Schoolboy Music and Steve Rifkinds SRC Records. His first professional release was on June 13, 2008 when the DJ Drama and Don Cannon-helmed The Greenhouse Effect mixtape was released for free via Roths website Thedailykush.com. Roth was featured on the cover of XXL magazines annual Top 10 Freshmen: Hip-Hops Class 09 issue. Roth is expected to release his untitled debut album on March 17, 2009. Roth grew up in the suburbs of Morrisville, PA, a small town roughly 30 miles Northeast of Philadelphia. Growing up, Roth was exposed to little hip-hop in his family, with his parents preferring The Temptations, Earth, Wind Fire Bruce Springsteen and Dire Straits. According to Roth: The first CD I ever bought was Dave Matthews Bands 'Crash'...That is how suburban I am...I finally got into hip hop in 98 when I heard the Annie sample with Jay-Z....When I wrote my A Millie freestyle, that was me listening to 10 years of hip hop and not relating to it at all. Like, Damn I dont sell coke. Damn, I dont have cars or 25-inch rims. I dont have guns. I finally got to a point where I had the confidence to do this thing myself, and I was making music for me. And it turns out, a lot of people feel the same way I do. Roth has also stated that: I was always from the outside looking in, says Roth. Hip-hop has always been very influential in the burbs, [but] its just a matter of where we could relate to it. You find a lot of kids that are really confused. You look at them and theyre dressed out of character. They dont look right. I figured out, I dont have to dress this way, but you can still love hip-hop. During downtime in high school, Roth and his friends would rhyme and battle each other for fun, referring to their group as the hip-hop workshop." In 10th grade, Roth began rapping as a hobby, writing and recording tracks in a friends basement and selling copies in high school. After selling 250 copies in two days, Roth felt that a career in hip-hop was a possibility. Upon graduation, Roth entered West Chester University and became an Elementary Education major, while continuing to record verses over other peoples beats. During sophomore year, Roth posted some of his verses on his Myspace page and sent a Friend Request to Scooter Braun, an Atlanta-based promoter and former VP of Marketing for Jermaine Dupri's So So Def. One week after speaking to Braun, Roth flew down to Atlanta and was immediately signed by Braun, who subsequently became his manager.

The Erie-Lackawanna Railroad was formed by the merger of the Erie Railroad with the Delaware, Lackawanna Western in October, 1960. In this fascinating Two Disc Set by 16mm film photographer Emery Gulash, you will see the very beginning of the merger paint schemes, coupled with the variety of locomotive equipment garnered from the two roads. Disc one begins with 1962 early generation diesels and post merger paint schemes in the western end states: Ohio and Indiana. The action moves to the eastern end of the railroad in the states of Pennsylvania and New York with freight action and electric commuters. Emery then chases a steam powered fan trip over the former Erie Railroad main line to Binghamton, and this is the prelude to continuing action on Disc two. Disc two continues with the 1973 steam fan trip chase, now runnung on Delaware, Lackawanna Western trackage. You will see spectacular action and impressive scenes of the Tunkhannock Viaduct and other landmark locations. More eastern end freight and commuter action follows. The return to the western end in 1974 takes this Heritage DVD to the finale of E-L merger with the formation of Conrail in 1976. Two-Disc Set..Full Color..Approx. 2 Hrs. 30 Minutes

Earlier this week, ANP reported that, come November, Pennsylvania voters could face substantial delays at the polls. We spoke with the man running the election in Philadelphia, who scoffed at long lines and tales of lost votes. Now, voters are suing the state of Pennsylvania. With the help of Voter Action and the NAACP, they filed a complaint this morning in Philadelphia federal court, specifically citing an interview between the American News Project and Philadelphia Deputy City Commissioner Fred Voigt. Here's an update and more of our interview with Voigt.

A new study released by Pennsylvania Family Institute in conjunction with Family Research Council finds that children have fewer problems at school and home when they live with both biological parents and frequently attend religious services. Drs. Nicholas Zill and Philip Fletcher co-authored the new study which analyzes data from the National Survey of Childrens Health. Among their remarkable findings: children in this group are five times less likely to repeat a grade, less likely to have behavior problems at home and school, and are more likely to be cooperative and understanding of others feelings. Parents of these children report less stress, healthier parent-child relationships, and fewer concerns about their childrens achievement. These differences hold up even after controlling for family income and poverty, low parent education levels, and race and ethnicity. Pennsylvania ranks only slightly above the national average with respect to the percentage of children living in an intact married family, and slightly below the national average in the frequency of worship category. Michael Geer, President of Pennsylvania Family Institute, made the following statement regarding the studys findings: "This study once again shows that children in an intact, married family that worships together regularly are much less likely to experience behavioral problems, stress, unhealthy relationships and impaired educational achievement. "Social science data consistently demonstrates that the intact, married family that worships weekly is a great benefit to society and the nation. Lawmakers must take this fact into consideration when creating public policy." For more info visit www.PAFamily.org
