Sven Arefeldt (1908-1956)bandleader, pianoplayer and singer,celebrated one hundred years in December 29, 2008. He was one of Sweden's top musicians in over three decades.He played with all the greatest swedish artists and a lot of foreign also.He led many studioorchestras on the biggest swedish recordlabel, Sonora and wrote lots of music and arrangements to the artists on the label. He was also a very good jazzartist as you can hear on this record from 1937. Here he's with some of the best Swedish jazz musicians from that time. Sonora Swing Swingers was a studioorchestra that made around 10-20 records. In many years, Arefeldt have been forgotten, he was much indebted, and he had not even a gravestone on his grave, when he died in 1956. But in recent years, he have been remembered and played again and have at last, 50 years after his death, had its gravestone. He died by suicide after a hard life with a lot of alcohol and with large gambling debts.But it is for his fantstic music and for his artistry, we shall remember him. Happy birthday Sven, and thank's for your music.
